One of the perks of being a pastry chef is the ability to make your own wedding cake. That’s exactly what our head pastry chef Sharon did when she got married last summer. Her beautiful bohemian wedding, photographed by Me Creative, was recently featured on Boho Weddings.
Sharon and her hubby bucked many wedding traditions, from splitting the ceremony and reception into separate events and scrapping the speeches and bouquet toss. Their marriage ceremony was held at Toronto City Hall and the reception was a two-day event in Muskoka at Camp Queen Elizabeth, Sharon’s childhood summer camp.
The couple’s personalities were evident in all corners of the wedding, which made for a unique and memorable experience for their guests. Sharon decorated a three-tier naked cake with fresh flowers, figs and a gold-framed floral print with the help of another talented cake designer and friend Stefania. She also baked an assortment of pies and tarts for her guests to indulge in.
Sharon and Peter’s advice to other couple’s getting married is simple, “There will be a lot of work to do, you’ll spend more money than you planned and you will want to elope, but in the end it will all be worth it.”
