Get to Know Your Foodie Trips Concierge!

While running one of Toronto's most notable landmark bakeries, hosting raved about culinary classes and food-venturing around the Big Smoke, Lisa Sanguedolce might be one of the most passionate foodies we know! We're lucky to have her leading our fabulous Tuscan Culinary Adventure this fall, which you can rest assured will be done with the expertise of a true Sicilian (don't let her catch you mis-pronouncing prosciutto tostato - she'll call you on it!). Besides her love of fine Italian cuisine, she's a well-travelled expert in all delicious-things-Italy!

Here's what she had to say to our rapid-fire get to know you questions.

What's your favourite find on a culinary adventure?

I love to explore local grocery stores and see what people eat. So many interesting foods in different places and looking through their fresh and canned sections always makes me happy.

What's a must-pack item for the Tuscan Culinary Adventure?
Stretchy pants! Well Italians always look flawless so I would say a notebook to write down little memories of thoughts, places and to record information of places or people I'd like to visit again.

What's the best Italian meal you can make?
I make a mean lasagna just like my mom and grandma did with a bit of boiled egg, ricotta, mozzarella and lots of home made tomato sauce and braised ground beef.

How do you enjoy spending free time outside of the bakery?
I love to eat out at some of my favourite places & Toronto has so many amazing foods from so many ethnic backgrounds it's hard to choose where to go each time. I love to visit local markets like Kensington and St. Lawrence Market and then just make something with all my finds at home while listing to my fave music.

What's your favourite restaurant in Toronto?
Campagnolo is my fave, I love all of the fresh and delicious Italian goodies Chef Harding makes. And his wine list is always superb.

Your favourite bottle of wine?

I can't name specifics but I love a very dry white wine, most likely from New Zealand and I adore most Italian reds that are from the Barolo and Barbaresco region in Piedmont. I should add I love wines from Chianti too!
