Here at Le Dolci, we work with local charities to support those in need. Read below about the two amazing organizations that we are proud to contribute to.
Fort York Food Bank:
FYFB’s Food Program provides low-income individuals and families living in our community with a three-day supply of groceries. FYFB is a member agency of the Daily Bread Food Bank and our assigned service area covers the Westside of downtown Toronto, from Yonge to Dovercourt, Lake Ontario to Bloor. Many low-income individuals and families struggle to receive adequate nourishment. Working with registered dieticians, FYFB’s Food Program provides groceries that are consistent with the Canada Food Guide.
Matthew House grew out of the vision of its founder and current director, Anne Woolger, who had worked for many years at a city-run shelter for refugees in Toronto. There her eyes were opened to the plight of refugee claimants who were arriving in Canada seeking asylum as refugees but had no place to stay. Recognizing the need for caring shelters geared specifically toward the unique settlement needs of refugee claimants, Anne approached her denominational leaders and shared her vision of establishing a Christian-based reception home that would provide a warm welcome for refugee claimants in a caring home-like setting.
Visit Fort York Food Bank and Matthew House to learn more about the work they do and how you can give back to your community.
Our friends at Cocoa Latte and the amazing Karen S. are hosting a fundraiser for the Nzirambi Orphanage in Uganda.
On Sept. 21 from 7-9pm. Head to the quaint cafe on St. Clair West eat some great food, win some fab raffle prizes and support a great cause. We’ve been supporters for the last 2 years and have loved hearing all of the stories from the orphanage and also the amazing things people do to support the charity. Our favourite story is of the 8year old boy who asked for money for his birthday, not toys from all of his friends as he wanted to donate it all to the charity – such a great kid!
Buy your tickets here and come out for a fun and chocolatey evening http://itsachocolateaffair.eventbrite.com/
Tickets are $25 – drinks/food included.

The Montrose Child Care Centre is located in Little Italy, and supports over 90 families in the Toronto area. Aside from a daycare, it is also a place for children to be nurtured and to grow in a safe, ideal environment.
The teachers and staff at Montrose Child Care Centre have been working hard at developing programs tailored specially for children at certain age groups , providing the care and attention necessary to help them learn. They also have their own chef who prepares nutritious, mainly vegetarian and fresh food every day.
As a member of the community, Le Dolci is proud to assist in their fundraiser by donating one of our decorating classes. We hope to be part of the Montrose Child Care Centre expansion in helping children have a better learning environment, as well as providing training and education to the staff at the centre. They are hoping to provide field trips to local museums and events too, so that the children can have the opportunity to experience different adventures outside the child care centre.
We are happy to assist Montrose Child Care Centre in achieving these goals, by donating one of our classes to their silent auction. The auction will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012. To find out more details on how you can help, visit Montrose Child Care Centre’s website!
This is an event NOT to be missed!

If you’re looking for meaningful gift ideas for your mother on Mother’s Day, the “SickKids Get Better Gift” would be a perfect gift! Through their user-friendly website, navigation is easy and you’re able to browse by category, occasion, or dollar value. Not only will you be giving your thanks and showing appreciation with the Get Better Gift on Mother’s Day, you’ll also be supporting programs and the lives of sick kids and their mothers.
How can you help?
- How about providing a donation toward the purchase of baking supplies for children and their mother? This would allow them to spend some quality time together in the kitchen, baking up some delicious treats!
- Another great option would be to assist mothers in taking care of their children with the rocking chair. Using a rocking chair is an effective way to comfort babies and put them to sleep peacefully.
There are many great gift choices available on SickKids’ “Get Better Gifts” website, and your mother would be proud to be part of the support!
