Today, we wanted to share a video that TrendHunter.com recently made about what’s cool in Toronto because it features our very own foodie studio! We love that Shelby Walsh and our friends at TrendHunter.com featured us in their video and we’re honoured to be part of it.
We have more exciting news to announce! Beginning in September, Lisa Kates, Toronto’s soup expert, will be hosting our first gourmet soup drop-in here at Le Dolci. After work, come in for a bowl of comforting and delicious soup made by Lisa K.
Lisa also known as @AFoodGypsy on Twitter, started her own catering company and a not-for-profit called “Food Matters”. She focuses on using local ingredients whenever possible in her recipes. Her soups are AMAZING! Fresh ingredients = tasty flavours! We luv.
Drop by Le Dolci, have a chat with the Lisas and let us fill you up with some homemade gourmet soup! Bring the family, kids and your work mates for an easy and delicious meal.
First drop in date: Wednesday, September 12 from 6-8pm
Includes: Soup, a freshly baked bread roll (made by us!) and a sweet treat – cupcake, butter tart or a surprise (also made by us!)
Doesn’t that photo of a bowl of chocolate soup look very enticing? You will get to enjoy something as spectacular at this Gourmet soup Drop-in!
The Montrose Child Care Centre is located in Little Italy, and supports over 90 families in the Toronto area. Aside from a daycare, it is also a place for children to be nurtured and to grow in a safe, ideal environment.
The teachers and staff at Montrose Child Care Centre have been working hard at developing programs tailored specially for children at certain age groups , providing the care and attention necessary to help them learn. They also have their own chef who prepares nutritious, mainly vegetarian and fresh food every day.
As a member of the community, Le Dolci is proud to assist in their fundraiser by donating one of our decorating classes. We hope to be part of the Montrose Child Care Centre expansion in helping children have a better learning environment, as well as providing training and education to the staff at the centre. They are hoping to provide field trips to local museums and events too, so that the children can have the opportunity to experience different adventures outside the child care centre.
We are happy to assist Montrose Child Care Centre in achieving these goals, by donating one of our classes to their silent auction. The auction will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012. To find out more details on how you can help, visit Montrose Child Care Centre’s website!
At Le Dolci, we love creativity and especially when it has to do with sweet treats! We came across this little article on Cheeseburger Cupcakes from the Trend Hunter website, and knew we had to share this cute idea. They’re fun to eat for all ages and will definitely have everyone going “Oohhh” and “Aahhh”.
KatDW included step-by-step photos on her Flickr account about the process, which is extremely helpful. Kate actually came up with the idea of sharing this guide after being surprised by her boyfriend with these unique cheeseburger cupcakes.
Whether it’s for a party or a gathering, your family and friends will be impressed by your baking skills. They’re fun to make, sweet to taste, and amazing to look at!
We came across an article on The Globe and Mail mentioning Loblaws’ decision to remove artificial colours and flavours from their President’s Choice line of products. We were very pleased indeed!
The public has become more concerned about the use of artificial colours and flavours, and Loblaws believes addressing this concern is the right thing to do. Consumers are now more educated about the health-related issues due to recent studies that link hyperactivity, cancer, etc. to the consumption of artificial colours/flavours.
According to the article, “by the end of this year, all artificial colours in the PC line (which includes Blue Menu, Organics and Green branded products) will be removed; by the end of 2013, all artificial flavours will be removed.”
All this is good news for Canadians and the general public as it’s a sign that we’re moving toward the right direction. At Le Dolci, we also support the use of natural ingredients where no artificial flavours or colours are added to our baked goods(our icing is the only thing we use a teeny bit of color for but we’re working on that too!).
With these initiatives in place, people can make healthier food choices & realize the benefits of real food!
The team at Le Dolci would like to wish all of our fantastically sweet fans, friends and followers a Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Our studio will be filled with leprechauns, pots of gold and of course green clovers.
Although clovers are found most often in nature with three leaves, rare four-leaf clovers do exist. Finding one is said to bring someone extreme luck. It is also believed that each leaf of a four-leaf clover represents something different: first is hope, the second is faith, the third is love, and the fourth is happiness.
Here are some of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day themed cupcakes that we would like to share with you. Of course we would also love to share a pint of Guinness at the pub with you as well to celebrate this special day. Cheers!
