More about Red Door Shelter:
Assisting Families, Refugees and Women Who Are Fleeing Violence. Since 1982, the Red Door has provided services for families and individuals who need safe and supportive emergency shelter.
The Fort York Food Bank has been assisting families in need for more than a decade now. FYFB helps a diverse group of people made of different family sizes and ethno-cultural communities with their various services. Whether recently unemployed or underemployed, FYFB provides the assistance required to connect with the community.
One of FYFB’s core programs is the Food Program where a three-day supply of groceries is provided to low-income individuals and families living in their community. A member of the Daily Bread Food Bank, FYFB is assigned the service area that covers the Westside of downtown Toronto, from Yonge to Dovercourt, Lake Ontario to Bloor. Because many low-income individuals and families cannot get adequate nourishment, by working with registered dieticians, FYFB’s Food Program provides grocery baskets that adhere by the Canada Food Guide.
Another great program FYFB offers is its Counselling & Advocacy program. This specific program focuses on preventing homelessness and reducing hunger by assisting their clients to resolve issues affecting them. FYFB’s volunteers help connect clients with a range of programs, such as Social services, Income security programs, Legal services and Housing.
As part of the community, Le Dolci supports FYFB and hopes that families and individuals will receive the help they need. To volunteer, donate, say hello and see how you can help, check out their website: http://www.fyfb.com/
