Day 3, well it was actually Day 1 with the whole group! We got to meet our new friends from around the globe and share some good laughs and LOTS of sweets at our first class: croissants and pain au chocolat.
Our hosts at the school La Cuisine Paris were wonderful and we made too many croissants that we are still trying to pawn them off to taxi drivers and neighbours.
After our croissant and macaron experimenting in the kitchen we went for a Sweet Tour of Paris with Flavors of Paris. Our wonderful guide Cecile took us to Saint Germain des Pres for more sweets! We tasted macarons, had French cider, the most delicious and thin and perfect salted caramel crepes, gelato, French bread and chocolat.
It was a truly sweet day and we are lucky to have such a great school and tour leaders around us!
More updates from our Paris office soon!
Greetings from a sunny Paris – the sun seems to have graced us with its presence and it seems like it will stay with us all week!
Today was another day spent exploring; tomorrow we get our hands dirty in the kitchen at La Cuisine Paris so we are very excited! And we get to meet the whole group tomorrow morning!
Today we had fun at:
- The Louvre -if you get there EARLY (like 9am!) you can see the Mona Lisa without the throngs of people in front of you
- The end of the Tour de France! Hooray for Bradley Wiggins!!
- We ate some garlic laden escargots -delish! You must visit restaurant Vins Des Pyrenees when you are in Paris
- Visited the largest synagogue in Paris and got a private tour-which was a nice surprise.
- Drank red vino (that’s a daily given!) and drank lots more coffee paired with more croissants-we can’t control our selves.
Bonne Nuit from Paris!
Hello sweet friends,
In just six short hours our journey from Toronto ended in the magical city of Paris. We landed in the city of Lights this morning to a grey and chillier day than we are used to in the City of Toronto (is it still scorching??). We were greeted with an easy customs process and then hopped in a taxi to our quaint apartment in the lovely Marais neighbourhood.
We are surrounded by French bistros, cafes, art galleries (the Picasso Museum), Le Seine is a few steps away and we already have had the most delectable croissants, cafe au lait and THE FROTHIEST cappuccino. Bar the jet lag that is making us a bit clumsy and slow we are delighted to be here.
We met with Jane and Olivier from La Cuisine Paris today and are super excited to get our group in there on Monday. They start the week off by making croissant and pain au choclat! We wish we could share it with you via the blog but hopefully our pictures will do it justice, or you will just have to sign up for next year’s trip.
Our friends in Paris have given us secret hideaway bars and hidden restaurants off the beaten path to visit and we are already preparing for the stretchy pant wearing!
Paris today is magical even if it is a bit chilly; we are in the midst of summer festivals and the summer vibe of people milling about lounging in cafes and strolling around with french baguettes in hand. Lots of pictures to follow!
Our shop and studio is open as usual for classes, the fabulous sweet team are there if you need any sweet orders, class queries or more – give them a ring, for now Lisa Dolci is in our Paris office – a quaint cafe of the day in Le Marais 🙂
Greetings from Paris!
Bonne Journee a tous!
Bonjour mes amis!
Our Paris adventure is about to begin, I leave today for Paris to set up all of the fun stuff we have planned for the group and am excited to meet our co-host Mardi who is already there, enjoying the French countryside and spending lots of time at La Cuisine Paris getting her hands dirty in the kitchen (lucky Mardi!)
Next Monday our adventure begins! A group of 10 lucky ladies from Canada, the US and Australia will join us in the magical City of Lights for a week of hands on, culinary fun! We’re very excited to host our first trip and I am so thankful that our first host city is Paris.
I think the food and wine culture there is top notch and the pastry that the chefs in the country are outputting is unsurpassed. Paris is a food lover’s heaven, we plan to roam the streets to eat the most delicious croissants, baguettes, falafel (in Le Marais) duck, cassoulet and more! Check back here at our blog and click on the posts PARIS LOVE to see a daily update of what we have created in the kitchen at La Cuisine Paris. Jane and her lovely team are already preparing for our arrival.
Au revior – I will be updating you all from Paris!
xxLisa (or it will be Lise for the week)
A culinary adventure in Paris!
If you like to get your hands dirty experimenting in the kitchen, love exploring specialist food shops and taking in historic walking tours, then this is the tour for you. Paris is one of the world’s fabled destinations for gourmands! This tour includes a week of hands-on culinary classes, working side by side with classically trained French chefs you will learn to make some of the most desirable French treats like macarons, croissants, and baguettes. After you have mastered the art of French baking you will participate in themed walks and activities, taking in some of the city’s most atmospheric districts and markets and dine at some of the city’s best kept gastronomic secrets.
Group size is limited to 10 people for an intimate experience. There is also plenty of free time scheduled for visits to world-class museums, galleries and to savour some of the wonderful shopping, restaurants and brasseries that the city has to offer.
For gourmet food, there can be no other country in the world quite like France, and Paris, of course, is the capital of it all. There is so much to see and do, you will leave Paris with sore feet, but having had a taste, you will want to come back for more. It is everything you imagine it to be, romantic, inspiring, vibrant even outrageous, but best of all Paris is simply unique.
