What is your favourite memory of Easter, mine was getting dressed up in a new dress grandma would buy us, then going to church and coming home to open up Easter eggs, the Italian ones had little prizes in the bottom. We would then go to a family member’s for a BIG italian lunch! Lamb was on the menu and it was (and still is) a big family affair.
Aunties and Uncles would give us chocolates and toys and grandma always had a little envelope of Easter money in tow. It was and still is a very special time of year for our family. This Easter we will be celebrating with our family in Italy and also checking in our Italian friends who are hosting our culinary adventure this October.
In the shop we will have some chocolate fun, Easter cookies, macarons and easter cupcakes for you to give to your little and loved ones. Pop in and say hi and show us your pretty Easter Sunday outfit. We’re at 1006 Dundas Street West, downtown Toronto right across from Trinity Bellwoods Park.
We’re putting together final details for our Paris trip this October!
We have a sweet week of hands on cooking classes and some evening adventures planned.

While looking through cook books and baking supplies at Good Egg in Kensington Market, we came across a very cute book entitled Pâtisseries à Paris, published by Paumes. Yes, this book is in Japanese, but we couldn’t resist purchasing it because it’s just too adorable!
This book features many famous pâtisseries in Paris, including Pierre Hermé, Ladurée, Angelina, Sadaharu Aoki, Carette, etc. With so many beautiful photos of cakes, macarons, tartlettes, éclairs, and chocolates, it was impossible to put the book back down at the store. Although the writing is in Japanese for the most part, the addresses are not – so that’s still helpful for our upcoming visit to Paris this July! 🙂
Le Dolci will be going to Paris this July, and there is still one more spot left for this fun foodie trip! Along with us, there will be many interesting activities to participate in, such as learning how to bake French pastries and going on tours. You’ll get the chance to make your own bread, croissants, and éclairs! Additionally, there will be optional tasting dinners and cruises to take part in. On this trip, there will also be free afternoons and evenings for you to explore Paris, and visit many of the lovely pâtisseries listed in this book! Our business started in the most amazing city in Europe – London (!) and we wanted to let you know about some of our favourite cupcakeries in our old home town, in case Santa got you a Christmas pressie to go over the pond for a visit. We love Lola’s Cupcakes and the Hummingbird Bakery and if you decide to visit London you must find these sweet shops or they may find you! Some of them are located smack dab in the middle of our favourite clothing shops like Selfridges and Top Shop, Oxford Circus.
Our weakness at Hummingbird has to be the Black Bottom cupcakes, they are fudgy chocolate cake bottoms with cream cheese frosting and a rich cheesecake centre; it doesn’t get any more decadent than that, non? Bookmark these terrific places and make a visit during your next trip to Londontown.
