With the warm weather approaching, Le Dolci is excited to bring back the monthly Market Classes this May! Guests will experience a chef-guided tour of neighbouring Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market and source fresh, local ingredients. The Chef will teach participants how to prepare a delicious meal in Le Dolci’s culinary classroom and, to top off the evening, guests will sit down to enjoy the fruits of their labour and a few glasses of wine.
Sign up for the first Market Class of the season on May 26th and join us in selecting from local fruits and veggies, meats, cheeses and other fine foods to craft a gourmet meal from your handpicked market finds.
An evening of food, wine and conversation
This fall the AGO presents Michelangelo: Quest for Genius and will feature dozens of the artist’s exquisite drawings. As the city of Toronto prepares for Michelangelo, we take perhaps his simplest sketches and turn them into inspiration for an unforgettable feast.
We are hosting a special evening to celebrate the art and food of Michelangelo. On September 12, chefs will prepare a delicious five-course meal inspired by the 16th century drawings of Michelangelo. They take the artist’s sketched shopping list filled with Renaissance ingredients and update them into a cohesive meal of Italian classics with wines to match. Michelangelo’s list is typical of his time…and includes requests such as tortelli, fennel soup, loaves of bread, and of course “un boca di vino” (a quart of wine). We use these ingredients and a little anachronistic license for an unforgettable meal.
Guests will dine on traditional panzanella salad, homemade stuffed pasta, traditional porchetta, semifreddo and a cheese course with some of Michelangelo’s favourites. Guests are encouraged to come and eat, drink and share in their love of good food and conversation.
Date: Fri Sept 12, 2104, 7pm

Located in the heart of the Beamsville Bench, Rosewood is Niagara’s first winery and meadery. Producing award winning grape and honey wines, Rosewood is proud to be one of Canada Top 25 Wineries since its inception. With bee hives scattered all over the Niagara Escarpment, Rosewood is a proud honey producer and strives to produce natural wildflower honey from Niagara’s bounty.
We’re very happy to have Krys from Rosewood to share her knowledge on honey and mead with everyone. There will be various types of honey products to taste and learn about the similarities and differences between each one. Additionally, there will be several types of mead to sample! What about a mead cocktail? Krys will also be showing us which ingredients are best to make a refreshing and tasty mead cocktail. An informative honey sampling, bee education, followed by an exclusive tasting of mead & cheese pairings; join us in this exciting new class!
Aside from “Bees, Mead & Cheese“, Kyrs will be hosting another great class called “For the love of Wine & Cupcakes”. Wine, a great accompany to any meal, is also fantastic with dessert. Besides their famous estate wines such as the 2009 Süssreserve Riesling and 2010 Sémillon, Rosewood also makes meads, honey, and candles.
Oh, and something to look forward to is our NEW Honey & Mead (honey wine) tasting classes! What is mead you ask? Made from the fermentation of honey and water, mead (or honey wine) was the earliest form of drinkable alcohol
The first class will be held on July 12th. Kyrstina Roman, will be leading the Honey & Mead tasting classes here at Le Dolci. There will be several of their wines for tasting and Kyrstina will describe the characteristics of each one. She will also be bringing in different types of honey, such as buckwheat and wildflower honey, and will explain the differences between the various kinds.
Additionally, there will be small treats for the wine pairing, such as cheese or wine-infused cupcakes. We’re very excited and hopefully you are too!
