CAKE Decorating - Introduction to Cake Decorating
Learn to decorate the most wild and wonderful cake with us!
At our Introduction to Cake Decorating Class you will make the Perfect Disaster Cake. A cake that blends creativity with real technique, giving you the freedom to make something beautifully imperfect while learning the foundations of cake decorating along the way.
In this 2-hour, beginner-friendly experience inspired by our Introduction to Cake Decorating class, combined with our previously offered Perfect Disaster Cake class, you’ll skip the stress and jump straight into the fun. Your cake is pre-baked and your buttercream is ready — so you can focus on bringing your wildest, messiest vision to life.
You’ll start by learning how to fill and stack your cake, then master the art of a crumb coat and smooth buttercream finish using professional tools. From there, things get playful. Using piping tips, you’ll create shells, rosettes, and textured details — then intentionally “break the rules” with bold colours, unexpected patterns, and chaotic designs that make your cake uniquely yours.
This isn’t about perfect edges or polished finishes. It’s about confidence, creativity, and letting go of perfection while still building real skills.
By the end, you’ll leave with:
- A fully decorated vanilla buttercream cake — beautifully imperfect and entirely your own
- Foundational skills in masking, piping, and buttercream techniques
- A deeper understanding of buttercreams (including American and Swiss)
- The confidence to experiment, create, and embrace the “happy accidents”
Every Perfect Disaster Cake is different. No symmetry, no pressure — just hands-on learning, laughter, and a little bit of delicious chaos.
Because sometimes the best cakes aren’t perfect… they’re personal.
