What is Cake Picnic?

A potluck — but make it cake.

Picture hundreds of homemade cakes lined up on long white tables in the open air: vintage piped hearts, towering layer cakes, that one legendary tomato cake. Guests mingle, admire, and photograph everything in sight.

Then the cake bell rings. Box in hand, you have exactly seven minutes to collect slices from as many cakes as you can before retreating to your picnic blanket to taste, trade, and swap baking stories with new friends.

It started in San Francisco, went viral around the world, and Toronto fell head over heels at our first two editions. Now it's back for round three.

Location

Shhh...it's a secret.

Here's the twist: we're not telling you where it is. The location of Cake Picnic 2026 is revealed only to ticket holders before the event.

We can say this much — it's outdoors, it's beautiful, it's in Toronto, and it's the perfect backdrop for a few hundred cakes. The rest stays under frosting until you're on the list.

The fine print

(It's short and sweet)

Do I really have to bring a cake?

Yes! That's the magic. Every guest brings one homemade cake, 6 inches or larger. It doesn't need to be perfect — wonky cakes have the best stories.

What should I put on my cake's name tag?

Give your cake a fun name and list the key ingredients and any allergens (nuts, dairy, gluten, etc.) so everyone can taste safely.

What else happens besides cake?

Music, lawn games, a photo wall, a glam station, cozy lounge corners, and plenty of time to mingle with Toronto's baking community — plus a goody bag on your way out.

When do I find out the location?

Ticket holders receive the exact location by email before the event. Until then, our lips are sealed.

Does the event give back?

Yes — a portion of proceeds is donated to a local charity supporting our community. Sweetness, shared.

Last year, 8,000 people waited for a ticket.

Don't be number 8,001.
