Cinnamon Butter & Cinnamon Sugar Recipe

Two things to spread on your French toast this long weekend!

When I was starting out I went to a baking show in Birmingham, UK and saw tubs of cinnamon sugar and I bought a small one.

I wanted to get the ingredient list on the side to see what delicious ingredients were inside.

I thought it was a magical cinnamon concoction that they put on the Tiny Tom doughnuts at the Ex each year.

Little did I know it was just cinnamon & sugar! 😮

After a delicious weekend of classes this weekend, a student asked, "what was in that Cinnamon Butter for the Cinnamon Bun and Challah Class?"

I said I would ask Chef! Just in case anything had changed from my examination of that very expensive bottle of sugar I bought.

So here are two recipes for you to try out this weekend.

The cinnamon butter has a few more ingredients than the cinnamon sugar 😉.

And here are the Two Best Ways to Use Cinnamon (In My Humble Opinion)

1. Cinnamon Sugar on Toast
Sprinkling on baked apples too.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. cinnamon
  • a pinch of kosher salt which rounds out the sweetness and makes the cinnamon taste brighter.

Store this in an airtight container and sell it to people like me at your next garage sale :)

2. Cinnamon Butter
Melt it over pancakes, waffles or French toast

Ingredients:

● ½ cup butter, softened
● ¼ cup dark brown sugar
● 1-3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
● Pinch of salt

Mix all ingredients and chill until ready to use.

*** now in both of these recipes you can add WAY more cinnamon if you wish, use your own tastebuds / cinnamon-o meter to see how you get on.
