What a wonderful morning learning about cake decorating! Megan was a great teacher and my granddaughter and I each left with beautiful cakes to share with our families!

Disappointed

This was the worst class we had at Le Dolci, and we know because we have been to several classes before and always had a great time. It was mother's day and we bought tickets for the whole family. While the instructor was good (hence why it's a 2 star review rather than 1 star), it was really odd that we had to share buttercream and piping bags with the person next to us. I understand not wasting food (and buttercream can be expensive), but it really felt like rationing a scarce resource, which is not what I'd expect given the price. Also, the ratio of attendees to instructor was way off, such that one or two of the most vocal attendees monopolized the instructors time, which prevented him from even looking in our direction. Also, each person should be given their own bowl to discard the excess crumb coated buttercream. Sharing those bowls was very much unnecessary and added to the "rationing scarce resource " feel to the class. Bottom line is that I think there were too many attendees for that class, or there should have been a second instructor to go around + more bowls/buttercream. The end result cake was amazing to eat (as usual) but we felt that this class really fell flat. I hope you take this feedback not as a complaint, but constructively.

This was a great class taught by chef Megan. I can’t wait to put what I learned into practice on my son’s graduation cake.

It was definitely a fun class. We got to learn how to mask the cake and then shown some piping techniques to start the decorating. This is just a taster course as a lot of practice is needed afterwards and so much more to learn. I felt that there was a lot of information that was shared during the session which would have been good to have been given this in written form for better recall. I wish that I had tried the recipes that were sent to us beforehand so that I could ask questions about them during the class. Like why is much butter used for the buttercream icing??? How do you make a cake that doesn't dome like the cakes that were provided for us.
It was a good starting point and I will continue to practice to try and perfect the skill.
