Le Dolci at The Bubbly Bachelorette Shoot!

If you can’t decide between a bridal shower and a bachelorette party, why not choose a bit of both? A vintage bachelorette tea party is the perfect daytime event that a bride and her girl gang can enjoy.

Le Dolci was recently part of a similar bachelorette themed photo shoot that was all about fashion, pampering, treats, and lots of photo opps. The bride and bridesmaids were lounging in custom silk robes from By Catalfo, enjoying bridesmaid gift boxes by Present Day Gifts, getting at-home professional manicures from The Nail and Champagne Bar and eating sweets and a gorgeous hand-painted cake from Le Dolci. Olive Photography captured all the intimate, memorable moments of the luxury fete.

Le Dolci Welcomes Chef Julie Montgomery

Chef Julie Montgomery is the latest addition to Le Dolci’s team of cake decorators. Former head teacher of the now closed Bonnie Gordon College, Chef Julie teaches advanced cake decorating, cake sculpting and design, and multiple day classes at Le Dolci.

Julie Montgomery’s twenty year career has seen her working in the pastry department of the city’s top hotels, restaurants and alongside Chef Mark McEwan, where she was executive pastry chef of his top two restaurants Bymark and North 44.

At Bonnie Gordon College, she taught students from around the world to bake and decorate grand, sculpted, gravity defying cakes with sugar flowers crafted by hand. These creations looked so realistic, they were (almost!) too pretty to eat.

Chef Julie loves to make gum paste flowers, and her favorite cake is the classic Opera cake. She can’t live without her mini fondant rolling pin, wooden ball tool, dresden tool, flower veiner and her pasta machine for rolling out gum paste. It may be hard to believe, but the hardware store is her “go -to”, where she gets many things for building cake infrastructure.

At Le Dolci, she will teach some advanced cake decorating and sculpting classes such as the Carousel Cake class, Ice-Cream Cone decorating class and gorgeous Gum Paste Flowers. Additionally, she will also conduct an advanced cake decorating boot camp for kids, where they will learn to create some unique cakes such as a Burger & Fries Cake, Drip Cake, Monster cake and Minion Cake.

We are super excited that Chef Julie is here with us, and is going to make our cake decorating program top notch!

Styled Photo Shoot with Le Dolci’s Cactus Wedding Cake!

When our creative and talented photographer friend Carrie J does a wedding shoot, we are in awe of the beautiful stories she creates. Earlier this year, we teamed up with her to be part of the magic!

We wanted to share some pictures from Carrie’s styled wedding shoot with our Cactus Wedding Cake. The talented team of the shoot also included event planning expertise from Honey Lemon Events, floral designs by Blush and Bloom, invitations by Jordynn Mackenzie and beautiful calligraphy on the table runner by Thunderloft Paper & Goods.

The bridal fashion was also on point with two wedding dresses from Ferre Sposa, a long layered veil, and a sequin jacket that added an unexpected (but totally welcome) touch of glam!

Such gorgeousness, we can’t help but keep staring at the pictures! The mesmerizing shoot has also been featured in Junebug Weddings and we loved being a part of this wonderful experience.

Afternoon Tea for Mother’s Day? Yes Please!

We love an afternoon tea! So British, so Downtown Abbey and so delightful! What can be better than some flavorful aromatic tea, dainty little sandwiches and delicious sweet treats? Add a beautiful archaic location and some Royal Albert fine bone China to the mix, and voila, we have the perfect high tea setting!

This past weekend, our friends from Royal Tea Party Events hosted the perfect Mother’s Day Tea party at the historical VanderBerg House! The beautiful VanderBerg House is an old Victorian house located in Leslieville built in the 1900’s for Jessie Ashbridges, son of pioneer Sarah Ashbridges. It consists of original pine flooring, crown moldings and chandeliers, which served as the perfect setting for a royal tea party held in honor of the loving Moms in Canada.

Moms were made to feel extra special, relaxed and pampered with an afternoon chat with the people they love, some fancy tea, sandwiches, scones and sweet treats. We were hosted by our lovely friend Krystyna Hession, owner and CEO of Royal Tea Party Events.

The fabulous decor, the Royal Albert fine bone china, the lovely people and the entire experience of the Mother’s Day Tea Party made our day sweeter and so much more enjoyable. A big thank you to Krystyna and Royal Tea Party Events for having us over, and for making Moms all over Canada feel like royalty!

Foodie Trips Presents: The Tuscan Culinary Adventure of Your Dreams!

Join us for a fun-filled culinary adventure organized by our sister company Foodie-Trips!  We can’t wait to spend an exciting week of cooking classes with you in Tuscany.

Let us tell you a bit about ourselves here at the Foodie Trips. We start to make dinner plans in the morning, and our evenings and weekends are mostly centered around food and cooking. We also love to travel, and are borderline neurotic about finding interesting travel locations and exploring different cuisines on Pinterest.

When we are not planning culinary vacations in charming locales, we are dreaming of enchanting hills, historical villages and all the food and culture they offer. This fall, the Foodie-Trips troop, along with a bunch of you culinados -(take our quiz to see if you’re one), will embark on a Tuscan Culinary Adventure, full of Italian food and wine.

Mark your calendar from October 2-6, where we will spend an amazing week in the hills of Tuscany truffle hunting, wine tasting and taking hands on cooking classes with Tuscan chefs. Our home base will be the luxurious Villa Mangiacane which has welcomed many celebrities and is said to have been designed by Michelangelo. The fifteenth-century villa is the ultimate Florentine hotel and spa, guaranteed to exceed your expectations.

The Villa is the perfect home base for our explorations. We will be eating a lot of gelato while exploring medieval towns, the wonderful city of Florence and learning a few Italian words along the way. Bei tempi! (Good times)

We will begin Day 1 of our Tuscan cooking class by preparing a three-course lunch with the finest local ingredients with our chef in the kitchen. We then get to enjoy our meal on the patio overlooking the valley of vineyards surrounding the Machiavellian Villa. Following lunch, we have some free time to explore the area. For dinner, we will indulge in a Tuscan barbecue-style dinner while enjoying the sunset.

The next day begins with a light breakfast at the villa, followed by a visit to one of the region’s most famous wineries owned by one of the oldest winemaking families in Italy. After a trip to the James Bond like cellars, lunch and some of their most famous wine is served on the terrace.

What’s a trip without learning the local language? Enjoy dinner along with an Italian language lesson at a hidden gem restaurant that is a secret to most tourists and owned by a very charismatic Florentine.

We will also visit the gorgeous medieval village of San Gimignano, where guests have the afternoon to enjoy lunch at their leisure visiting local galleries and shops. For dinner we don our aprons again for a home made pizza and pasta making workshop, and party back at Villa Mangiacane.

A day of truffle hunting follows! At the organic farm where we hunt, we will sample artisanal cheeses, meats and honey. Chef Francesco will conduct a lunchtime cooking class to use the farm’s produce for a meal. In the evening, we unwind with a light wine degustation dinner on the terrace complete with classical Chianti selections.

On the final day of the Tuscan vacation, we explore the bustling renaissance food and leather market before a culinary class in their historic market. We then toast the wonderful week’s end with champagne and a traditional Tuscan farewell dinner.

The Tuscan Culinary Adventure is all about learning and absorbing the culture, heritage and food of Tuscany, and more importantly, is a great way to relax, rejuvenate and charge your batteries for the real world. Cannoli Calling at Le Dolci!

Having had the opportunity to live in America for a few years, I have tasted some great cannolis from the Italian bakeries in Boston and New York. Nothing beats the feeling of a seriously strong cup of coffee and a cannoli that is done right. The dessert really comes together in two parts: the thin and crispy shell and the filling with fresh ricotta cheese, preferably goat’s or sheep’s cheese like they do in Sicily.

If you love cannolis as much as I do, it would be a great idea to take the cannoli class at Le Dolci! The class will teach you to make these beauties from start to finish, the crispy shell and the light, flavorful and creamy filling. The best part is you get to eat all of your cannolis or take them home to share, if you’re feeling generous 😉

Celebrating a gender reveal, or need that perfect cake for an avid golfer? Want to celebrate your dapper and dashing partner? Trust me when I say this, Le Dolci has all of this covered.

Have your friend call to tell us the gender of your baby, and we will make the inside of your cake PINK or BLUE to mark the reveal. We are also well caught up with the Pokémon trend by capturing Pikachu in a cake.

We also have special baptism and communion cakes, as well as Chanel themed cakes for all the fashion enthusiasts. Additionally, we have a very special and unique DIY cake, where we do all the baking and you, along with your kids, do the decorating. This cake is covered in white fondant and serves up to 12 people. Edible markers are provided for decoration.
